    HIGHLIGHTS.
Your authentic wilderness trip to East Africa should include the majestic Tsavo East National Park. Together with Tsavo West National Park, this 4535 square miles (11,747 square kilometers) wilderness forms the spectacular Tsavo National Parks (totaling 20812 sq. km or 8035 sq. miles), the largest park in Kenya and is noted as one of the largest wildlife sanctuary in the planet!

Tsavo East National Park, though, holds its own esteemed credit and is known as one of the greatest biodiversity sites in the world. With easy access to the park from the coast of Mombasa, you will travel across immense savannah plains that are dotted with thorn bushes, stands of acacia trees, scrublands, and woodlands. The rolling topography lulls you into a dream-like state as you uncover the varied ecological and historical treasures.

Some of Kenya’s largest elephant herds are in Tsavo East Park, so you will likely see these grey-skinned animals in several locations. What you may not expect, though, is the color of their skin being partly red. These elephants dust themselves with the red-brown Tsavo murram soil, so photographing them creates evocative images that envy many visitors.

Pride of mane-less lions, some sharing the DNA from the man-eater lions of Tsavo and herds of buffalos, have also been frequently seen in the park. Dispersed amongst these animals are giraffes, zebras, lesser kudus, coke’s hartebeests, grant’s gazelles, klipspringers, impalas, waterbucks, gerenuks, hunter’s hartebeests, and much more sought-after fauna

In the waters, you may see hippos enjoying the refreshing water that cools them throughout the day. Bird lovers find a paradise of resident and migratory species as more than 500 species have been recorded in Tsavo East. You will surely have a discerning Kenya birding tour of a lifetime should you sight the kestrels and buzzards that respite in the park during their migrations.

Blavals Adventure Safaris welcomes you to the wonders of Tsavo East National Park, easily accessible from the coastal beach resorts of Mombasa, Malindi, Watamu, and Kilifi, and we look forward to a great African wildlife-focused safari that will exceed your expectations.

For details on various countries based on the U.S. State Department information, please check with the consular office of the countries you plan to visit and/or click here.

Double Entry and Multiple Entry Visas.
Some itineraries might involve entering a country, leaving, and then later re-entering the same country. In such a case, you will require a double-entry or multiple-entry visa.
When contacting a foreign consular representative, make sure to describe your itinerary clearly.

    FLIGHT BOOKING

Flight Preparation to Kenya from the USA.
Flights from New York City to Nairobi: JFK to NBO. The fastest direct flight from New York City to Nairobi takes 14 hours and 20 minutes.
The flight distance between New York City and Nairobi is 7,351 miles.

However, several airlines offer itineraries to Kenya, and their bookings are all available online for your convenience. Your discretion in choosing which to use is allowed.

Always ensure that you reconfirm the Flight.

    Luggage & Packing
Checked bags are typically limited to a total dimension of 62 inches by adding length + width + height (example: 26"+26"+10" = 62”) and a maximum weight of 50 lbs (23kg).

    Carry on Luggage.
We urge you to pack the items you would be without if your checked bags were lost in your carry-on bag. Prescription medications, eyeglasses, a change of clothes, a mobile phone and charger, valuables (including jewelry and cash), a passport, keys, insurance cards, and local contact information are a few things to remember.

Additionally, we advise you to pack a change of clothing in your carry-on suitcase if your luggage is delayed or misplaced.

    DESTINATION INFORMATION

    Arrive On Time.
You should plan to check in at least three hours before the scheduled departure time for international flights and two hours prior to the scheduled departure time for domestic flights due to additional security checks.
    Connecting Passengers.
Connecting passengers from other US locations should check their bags all the way to their final destination. Some airlines do not permit the "interlining" of checked bags; each destination flight's luggage is checked separately.

    Destination Landing and Eventual Departure.
Please finish all immigration procedures upon arrival and retrieve your bags. Check your voucher for detailed instructions if your program involves airport arrival shuttles, as they differ depending on the destination.

    Transfer.
We kindly suggest that you give our representative 30 minutes extra time from the time of your booked transfer due to local traffic and other unavoidable situations.
Transfers to and from the airport are included. You shouldn't worry about being late for your tour because such potential delays are considered when booking transfers.
    During Game Safaris.
Ensure to pack your items in a soft-sided duffel bag and pack lightly due to the constrained space in safari vehicles. Using conventional luggage with rigid frames or hard plastic panels is not recommended.
Please be aware that there is an environmental prohibition on single-use plastic bags.

    YOUR TOUR INFORMATION.

Safari vehicles have high ground clearance and require agility to embark and disembark.

    ABOUT ACCOMMODATION & MONEY

    About Your Accommodations.
Each hotel is chosen carefully, considering its overall quality, location, cost, food, service, and cleanliness. Standard twin-bedded (two single beds) rooms with private bathrooms are available in every room. Many accommodations are built in the traditional local style and have no air-conditioning. Some of our tours require walking or stairs between tents. During this tour, you may come close to wild animals whose actions can be unpredictable.

Unless otherwise specified, choosing a room is always completely up to the hotel's management on a run-of-house basis.

    Electricity in Safari Camps.
Some camps and lodges rely on generators to supply electricity, which may not always be available. Travelers using power-dependent devices must inform the travel manager in advance so that arrangements can be made to keep them plugged in through the night.

    Electricity Specification
Please note: The U.S. uses 120 volts, and you can purchase a converter and transformer at most hardware stores for your 120V appliances.

Tanzania - The voltage used is 230 volts, 3-pin square (UK standard).

Hotels will typically let you store your stuff in their luggage room if you plan on arriving early or leaving late. If the hotel can check you in earlier or let you stay later, inquire at the front desk.

    Currency.
Before you leave your country, we advise that you get a small quantity of currency for the first country you'll be visiting. A smart strategy is to avoid carrying too much cash.
ATMs accept most ATM cards in many countries but only dispense in the local currency.

    Credit Cards
Even while credit cards are generally accepted, having local cash on hand is still a good idea. Let your credit card issuer know you will be traveling to prevent your card from being stopped for security concerns.
