  • CRESCENT ISLAND GAME PARK
     
    Crescent Island is a privately owned Island on eastern side of Lake Naivasha that rose to fame after the 1985 movie “Out of Africa” which showcased the beautiful nature of Lake Naivasha and its surrounding.
     
    It is believed that the Crescent Island came into existence after Lake Naivasha experienced a significantly huge drop in its water levels which ended up causing the Island to emerge and attach to the mainland permanently to this day.
     
    The Crescent Island is one of Nakuru and Kenya’s top destinations, receiving over a thousand guests every year. The Island is surrounded by bushy grasslands, papyrus swamps, acacia woodlands, a forest and amazing landscapes from volcanic activities of the past century creating a good habitation for fauna.
     
    The Island has plain terrains that are easy to hike and make walking around the Island less tedious and very interesting.
     
    Rarely will you find a park where you can have a wildlife safari that lets you leave your vehicle to listen to the birds, watch the scenery and have your picnic in a national park.
     
    But Crescent Island, allows you to walk, stretch your legs and sit in a scenic national park because the island doesn't have predators.

    WHAT TO DO ON CRESCENT ISLAND
     
    As the boat nears the shores of the Crescent Island, the guests will be brought to attention of hundreds of birds on the trees belting various tunes to welcome you host of both relaxing and refreshing activities. These will include;
     
    Walking among wild animals and enjoying them up-close. This is because this island doesn’t have any predators that can attack either the animals or the humans, so walks on the Island very close to the animals are very common.

    ADVICE.
     
    Though the Island doesn’t have active predators, Lake Naivasha has hippos that come alive at night, so while at the islands guests, are cautioned not to move in the night or even stay out past 7pm because you may become a hippo’s meal.
