  • BACKGROUND.
     
    - Bomas of Kenya was started by the Government of Kenya in 1971 as wholly owned subsidiary of the Tourism Finance Corporation (TFC) the Company was established to Preserve, Maintain and Promote the Rich Diverse cultural values of various ethnic groups of Kenya. 
     
    - It was also designated as a tourist attraction centre thereby preserving the authenticity of the Kenya’s Cultural values and to portray them in the pure form.
     
    - Bomas of Kenya houses & displays the largest auditorium in Africa traditional villages belonging to the several Kenyan tribes. These villages are replicas of traditional homesteads, or Bomas, from 23 of Kenya’s ethnic groups. It also features traditional dances performed in its large auditorium.   

    Location 
     
    Bomas of Kenya is located in Langata, Nairobi.  It's exact location is approximately 10 kilometers from the Central Business District. 

    Opening Hours
     
    The homesteads are open daily from 10 am to 6 pm. Performances take place from Monday to Friday from 2:30 pm to 4 pm.
     
    On weekends and during public holidays, performances are from 3:30 pm to 5:15 pm.  

    Best Time to Visit
     
    Best time to visit Bomas of Kenya is during the whole year.
     
    However, it is better to visit the village during the dry season from July to October and also in January and February.

    The Utamaduni Restaurant of Bomas of Kenya is the first of its kind in Kenya.
